Krousonas is a village of 2.855 people, a Municipal Department of Malevizi, 21.8 km away from the city of Heraklion. It is located at an altitude of 460 meters at the eastern base of Psiloritis mountain. The village is built amphitheatrically on the hills Plagia, Koupos and Livadiotis.
The climate of the area is Mediterranean. More than 50% of the area has steep slopes, and the its soils have high capacity of retaining moisture and nutrients. The olive trees of the area are young (most of them under 10 years old) and the large majority are of Koroneiki variety.
